Sylvie Gauthier

Biologiste spécialisée en écologie, elle a complété un baccalauréat à l'Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) en 1983. Elle y obtient y une maîtrise en écologie forestière en 1985 sous la direction de Daniel Gagnon. Le sujet de son mémoire portait sur la végétation forestière des contreforts des Laurentides. Elle a obtenu par la suite un Doctorat de l'Université de Montréal en 1992. Le sujet de sa thèse portait alors sur la structure génétique et sérotinisme de population de pin gris (Pinus banksiana Lamb.) soumises à deux régimes des feux distincts.

Avant de se joindre à l'équipe d'écologie et de comportement des feux de l'Institut forestier national de Petawawa au sein du Service canadien des forêts comme chercheure scientifique en écologie forestière et des feux en 1993, elle a complété un stage post-doctoral portant sur l'amélioration génétique et culture in vitro du pin gris sous la direction de Sylvie Laliberté à l'UQAM. Depuis 1996, elle est checheure au Centre de Foresterie des Laurentides du Services Canadien des Forêts au sein du réseau sur la gestion des feux de forêt et de celui sur les processus des écosystèmes forestiers. Elle est également chercheure associée à la Chaire en Aménagement Forestier Durable ainsi qu'au Centre d'Étude de la Forêt (CEF). Elle y dirige des étudiants de 2ème et 3ème cycles.
