Projet de recherche :
Contribution of mosses to the nitrogen budget of boreal forests, across forest types and geographic regions in eastern Canada
Nitrogen fixation in boreal mosses, particularly sphagnum moss, is a fundamental building block in forest ecosystems and is essential for all functions of a healthy ecosystem (carbon drawdown, water purification, etc). For these reasons, we will use both sequencing tech and morphology to help map biodiversity, monitor nitrogen fixation by both cyanobacteria + fungi, and ultimately build a greater foundation to help understand the various pressures facing these systems with climate change.
